Pawtism awarded a grant to this family in July 2024. Here is an update on their experience with Kelsea the autism assistance dog:

Kelsea is doing absolutely wonderful and has already made such a difference for Spencer and our family. We are now able to go out into the community without worrying about Spencer wandering off because he is tethered to Kelsea. Kelsea is also starting to sense what Spencer needs without even having to give her a command, which is so cool to see! Kelsea has also helped with Spencer’s social skills because people in the community will now approach Spencer to see Kelsea, where before they may have been more hesitant. Spencer enjoys showing Kelsea off! As far as advice, I would say that the process of getting an Autism Assistance dog can feel long, but every step is necessary and worth it in the end! We could not be happier with Kelsea!!
